3 days’ lunch and dinner
You’ll have the insider’s perspective on the best in bourbon, horses and southern charm as found only in the heart of Bluegrass county, Lexington, Kentucky.
Each day you will be indulged with exceptional experiences. Begin with your luxury accommodations at the exquisite 21C Museum Hotel, an 88-room boutique hotel/contemporary located in downtown Lexington. That evening, you’re off to Portofino, acclaimed for its inventive Italian and American cuisine, to enjoy dinner in the restaurant’s cellar.
On Wednesday it’s all horses all day, beginning with a personally guided visit at Taylor Made Farm, home to California Chrome, winner of the 2014 Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the 2016 Dubai World Cup. Your tour will include a breeding observation.
Then, it’s off to the races at the Keeneland Race Course. You’ll enjoy lunch, followed by an afternoon of betting on your favorites—but not to worry, handicapping tips are included! Dinner this evening will be at the Blue Heron Steakhouse downtown.
After Wednesday’s day of speed and agility, Thursday, will be more leisurely in nature, starting with a morning tour of the Bluegrass region by helicopter to soak up the pastoral beauty of the area from the sky. When you return to earth, your driver will take you past the horse farms and through the lush, rolling hillsides of the Lexington area to two of the oldest distilleries of significant history – Buffalo Trace and Castle & Key—where you’ll enjoy a tasting at each. These experiences will leave you delightfully charmed and with a smile on your face. To help balance the day, you’ll enjoy lunch on the patio of The Stave, located creekside to McCracken Pike, and dinner that evening downtown at the fantastic Carson’s, which features one of the largest bourbon collections in the city.
An experience that’s the perfect blend of history, tradition and the finer things in life.
